"Steps to Renovate"
Knowing the steps to renovating will help you plan your renovation and be prepared for each stage as it comes.
Before picking up any tools, decisions should be made about the design and colour scheme of your renovation. A well planned renovation is the key to quality craftsmanship.
If any demolition is required, there are safety precautions that should be taken to ensure a safe work site. Click Here for Safety Regulations and Precautions.
The first step to renovating is framing. If ceilings were removed, all strapping (1x3 wood backing running perpendicular to the joists) should be checked and rescrewed. All light boxes and plug receptacles should be moved to the finished depth of your wall; If you are installing 1/2 inch drywall on your framing, your electrical boxes should be 1/2 inch out from the framing.
Once the framing is complete you will need to have the electrical and plumbing done. Next is insulation and vapour barrier installation. Then drywall.
